Enhancing Human Health
Around the World

As many as two billion people worldwide face health threats every day. A disproportionate number occur in developing countries that aren’t equipped to deal with the challenges. The public often has limited access to information or care, and health resources are scarce. SRA believes global health issues like these have global consequences. For over 30 years, we’ve helped governments and countries worldwide strengthen their capacity to effectively deal with unmet health needs.

In the United States, SRA provides health and biomedical research support services that deliver high value to national and local governments, associations and academic organizations. We combine rigorous scientific process, innovative technology, and deep domain expertise, to help clients solve critical public health problems. Our expertise spans more than 20 health disciplines enabling us to make a strong impact nationwide in areas like HIV/AIDS, environmental health, public health preparedness and mental health.

In developing nations, we bring together governments, foundations, nongovernmental agencies and communities to forge partnerships, allocate resources, and design and execute strategies to improve public health. Because we are committed to program sustainability, we build our partners’ capacity to make well-informed decisions and effectively address complex health and social issues, including family planning and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health and infectious diseases. From policymaking to public outreach, we have hundreds of experts worldwide who can quickly provide in-country assistance.

Success Stories

  • Work with the National AIDS Control Council and the National AIDS and STDs Control Program to reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS in Kenya. SRA offers technical and financial assistance and supports non-governmental organizations that provide voluntary counseling and testing, home-based care and prevention programs.
  • Register and inspect all U.S. facilities housing select agents and toxins to certify that proper biosafety measures are in place. We also authorize and track all shipments of select agents between registered facilities.
  • Helped stimulate the market for insecticide-treated bed nets to prevent malaria in Nigeria. Instead of the traditional approach of promoting one brand and subsidizing the price, SRA organized an open call to manufacturers, brokered deals between net makers and insecticide companies and helped lobby the government to encourage commercialization of the market.
  • SRA builds and manages the relationships with state/local public health and the health data sources (hospitals) on behalf of CDC. Our work supports their early health-event detection and situational awareness surveillance system, which monitors potential disease outbreaks in the U.S.
  • Improve the capacity of the private sector to provide products and services for reproductive, maternal and child health in Afghanistan. The goal is to establish a local, Afghan-owned and managed nonprofit organization that supports private product makers and distributors. Current and future products supported by the project team include condoms, contraceptive injectables, insecticide treated bed nets, safe water solutions, oral rehydration therapy and more.
