Powering the Attack on a Nationwide Gang Problem

THE STORY

SRA’s multi-award winning GangNET® system

Gang activity is escalating and membership is on the rise. To combat the problem, law enforcement agencies nationwide rely on GangNET®. With GangNET, officers can easily track individuals, associates and their activities. This multi-jurisdictional tool makes it easy to share information, generate statistics and speed the investigative process. Using a standard web browser, investigators can collect and share intelligence across departments, agencies, states and regions. Features like mapping, facial recognition, data mining and automated link analysis offer even greater crime-fighting power.

GangNET has received several awards, including the Smithsonian Institution’s “Most Innovative New Technology in the 20th Century”.

RESULTS

A recent national gang threat assessment shows gang membership is on the rise. No longer just a domestic threat, gang activity is an international issue. As gangs have become increasingly mobile and technologically sophisticated, tracking and investigating cross-jurisdictional crimes has grown more complex. GangNET’s information-sharing capabilities can help law enforcement resolve intrastate, interstate and international gang cases.
